My XJ is a 2001 and just about bone stock. I upgraded the stereo with new head unit and speakers but other than that, everything is the same. My parents don't want me lifting it or adding bigger tires for fear it will roll (LAME). It's 2 wheel drive and other than that no offroading cappablities as it is. Is there anything I can do to it, whether it be inside or out, to look/drive better? Thinking about roof rack and lights and possibly a tire rack in the back. Also thinking about putting a brush guard up front and adding some KC's or Hella's. Suggestions?
thanks!

4x4 swap is extremely involved and expensive, i doubt he wants to go there.
It looks pretty clean as it is. I would consider adding a brush guard and some driving lights to the front, and bump up the tire size to a 235/75R15 (no lift/trimming required) to better fill those wheelwells. Rear tire rack looks silly on stock XJs IMO.
Probably the best thing you can do though is to have a mechanic go through the steering, engine, and suspension with a fine tooth comb looking for bad bushings and components. This will make a world of difference in the driving if even one bushing is bad. Also a full tune-up is always a good idea, including plugs, wires, filters (air/oil/fuel), and all fluids (including the rear differential).

Thanks... thought about hitting the JY and actually doing the 4X4 conversion. When I got the jeep in Sep of 2010, we had a chrysler stealership go through it with a comb. One of the pumps for like oxxygen is bad and they wanted $400 to fix it. With the tires, heard that from a lot. right now they are 225's. What are your opinions on a CAI?

tb spacer does nothing. bigger tb...maybe if you had a free flowing exhaust, high flow intake, and better injectors.
