So my jeep is a 96 classic, 2wd auto. About a week ago i was driving in a rain storm and hit a puddle, my jeep shortly rolled to a stop and hasn't ran since. I am at a loss of what could of happened, I have no check engine lights on and my code reader isnt picking anything up, i checked under the distributor cap and every thing is dry and looks good. I changed the fuel filter and checked the pressure at the fuel rail and every thing checked out there. The jeep will start and run for 10-15 seconds and then dies, for the little bit that it does run it sounds fine with no knocks or noises. I am at a loss with this jeep and cant figure it out, and help or ideas are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advanced

Have you put a stick (bamboo works great) or something similar up to each fuel injector and listen for them tick while engine is running? Free easy way to make sure injectors are working.

How about making sure you didn't fry the fuel pump ballast resistor?

The '96 doesn't have one. I thought those went away in '91. Could be wrong though.

I thought they went away in 97.... I could be wrong. Let's allow the OP to go have a peek his own self.

I think 91 was the last year for the ballast resistor.

Could be then.

Know what the difference in believing something and knowing something is?

Mine doesn't have one of those. I also tired switching around resistors and that didn't help at all. Iv talked to alot of people and nobody seems to have any answers. I am completely lost on this one, might have to break down and take it to the shop....
