Hey guys just bought my 99 Cherokee sport! It's my first car I've ever owned (I'm 16). Anyway my family and I are not newbies when it comes to mechanical work, so were not scared to fix things ourself, but I'm seeking your advice on a small problem I noticed. It seems to me that I have a small oil leak coming from the oil filter housing where it connects to the engine block. I noticed it on start up, and after we drove the car there where two drops of oil on the ground and a small wet spot underneath the oil filter housing. Any idea what this could be? You answered your own question. I believe it connects to the engine with an o ring so if it's leaking from there and you're 100% sure that's the spot, pull it off and replace the o ring.

 

The oil filter adapter is a very common place for oil leaks. There are 3 o-rings in there that need to replaced. You can pick up the set at the dealer for a few bucks.

Make sure to get the o-ring set that includes all 3 of them or you will be doing a lot of mix and matching. That's why I recommend buying the set from the dealer and not worry about the hassle when you have everything apart.
