need a second opinion---water pump?
My Jeep started to overheat, so I towed it home... first thing I did was replace my thermostat.
I tried to flush the rad but when I started the jeep, the belt was slipping off. I noticed that it was coming off at the water pump pulley, then slipping off the power steering pulley. I also tried tightning the belt and I can still hear a howling noise and again the belt tried slipping off.
My question is do you think do water pump is done? maybe the bearing on it is started to vibrate?

You must have a problem with pulley alignment. I would suspect the dampener pulley if it's something that just started. Off hand, it doesn't seem likely that the water pump pulley could get out of line.

If the pump is going bad the bearings will stick or lock up causing your belt to loosen or come off. The weep holes are usually plugged so looking for leaking coolant from it is useless. I had a similar overheating problem lately and my pump went out yesterday morning, my belt came off completely and the pulley wouldn't even spin. I say replace the pump, its $25 at oreillys and easy DIY work

i dont think its a coincidence that the cooling system stoped pumping fluid and the belt slipping happened at the same time.
before that everything ran fine

UPDATE: I took off the belt to check all the pulleys... The only one that had play in it was the water pump pulley. I think I found my problem.
Can there be play in the pulley itself? does a new water pump come with pulley?

There you go. Sometimes a little bit of investigation and diagnosis goes a long way. It's nearly always easier to diagnose a problem when it can be seen first hand.

Well the water pump was the culprit after all.
Took off the belt, checked all the pulleys and the water pump one had alot of play in it. Changed it up along with a new thermostat(while im at it). thanks for the input
Just thought id let you all know.. I hate reading threads with no final results.
