Having fixed rust issues on two XJs, my vote is no. It's too far gone and you'll have way more time and money into it than its worth.

 

Stop spending money on that. That cancer is stage 4 and inoperable.

Floor pans are one thing, rockers another, but that frame is beyond repair.The Hooligan stuff is great if you can get it, they have a reputation of LONG lead times, but you need to have a solid base to weld to for them to work.

That is not a solid base.

Cut your losses now and find a better platform. I've been a welder/fabricator for several years, and my opinion is put that barnacle out to pasture.

Not trying to be a dick, just don't want to see you waste time and money.

After reading post #10, which was 4 years ago, I feel the need to dish out some tough love...

You've had several professional shops now tell you your jeep is a liability, unsafe, and would refuse to work on it.

You need to face facts. That rust bucket is beyond repair, and unsafe for the road. Time to cut your losses. Yes it sucks you put a lot of money into it. Learn from it and move on.

 

@Rickstack That's a parts jeep for sure. You'll spend so much time and money trying to get that right and you'll likely find holes appearing each year in sections you haven't replaced. As above, find a better Jeep to start with.

 

well dont be a dick cause ive never posted on here before. only person i spoke with said based on same pictures i posted here he thinks its fixable. However i do think its to far gone. But it was the wife's best friends jeep whose now passes so im trying to keep it alive for her.

 

Maybe time to make a decision based on facts and not emotions.

If you care at all about your wife, and her friends, be straight with them and tell them it's too far gone. Imagine putting work into it, having one of them drive or ride in it, hitting a pothole or something at speed,and suffering a catastrophic failure, injuring or killing them, or other innocent people, because of someone's selfish sentiment.

 

I hijacked for sure but seemed like a decent post to do it on. And you are right about all those thing which is why i came to you folks and asked because i dont wanna get ripped off. I did know the leaf spring mount locations were suspect on cherokees so i was hopeful. Thanks guys appreciate the input. Ill be back when i get a new jeep lmao

DO NOT pawn that death trap on anyone, "fixed" or not.

It's time to bury that thing next to your wife's dead friend. Part out or salvage what you can and help finance a new project. FFS

 

If the rockers are gone the floors are too, pay particular attention to the front leaf spring mounting area. Pull the rear bumper covers and you'll probably notice a good portion of the quarter panels is history as well. You may want to evaluate the vehicle as a whole before you sink a bunch of dough in to it.

 

You know what, I'm going to shut this **** show down...people don't need to waste their time giving advice on a "project" that should seriously be **** canned.
