I have a 4.5 inch lift with 32's. i like to keep the flares on it to keep the body lookin stock. but i would also like to not worry about ripping those flares off on the trail.
I believe i can make these at home i just need some ideas or pics of the rear.
Also if you have any ideas or pics of the front i would appreciate that too. i was thinking either go the hockey puck way of buy the extended bumpstops from rustys. not sure on there length though.
Thanks

Thanks,
i did a search and didn't see what i was looking for. I remember a month or so ago someone built a bumpstop off the top of the two u bolts that secure your leaf springs around the axle. but can't remember who it was.
I have some 2x2 square tubing but i flexed the rearend out today and looked at the factory bumpstops. it looked like 2" was not near enough. needed more like 4-5".
i will take pics tomorrow of what i am seeing
Thanks again

Ok heres my problem. you can see in the first pic that the rear of the tire is rubbing, the top is close. on the second pic (taken at the same time)the top of the tape measure is on the bottom of the bumpstop. it measures 4.5" so i would need to extend my bumpstops 4.5" so nothing rubs, i would really like to extend my bumpstops without doing any trimming and cutting.

if your going to use that off road you are going to need more lift
or do some cutting
bump stopping it so there's no travel will leave you stuck in the smallest of terrain

I have a 4.5" lift with 32's. From what i hear that is a good setup. could possibly go 33's ( personally i don't want to do that ).
When it is sitting on flat ground i have plenty of room from the top of the tire to the bottom of the flare.
If i am thinking correctly. If i extended the bumpstops 4.5" to prevent rubbing, that would obviously prevent uptravel into the flare but would not hender down travel to keep the tires on the ground.

OK do you have access to a welder
if so have a 2" square tub welded to the top of the spring clamp plate
let it stick out on the side so its under the bump stop

I believe i can get access to one.
Sorry i wasn't to clear earlier,
Thats an idea i was thinking of. Thanks i will aslo start looking for some steel square tube. All i have is 2x2 aluminum square tube. I am not a welder by any means, seeing as i built my roof rack with self tapping scews. So i am not sure if you can weld aluminum to that top leaf clamp plate.
