need this mystery solved experts needed?
Ok i have this 1987 Cherokee Pioneer 2dr and I've owned it about 3 months now and since been trying to figure out the color scheme of it. Either it being factoy, or factory order, dealer ordered, custom done. I don't believe its custom done cause all the jams ect are appropriate colored and I've never seen an XJ in this color combo. it also at one point had the tire carrier and the factory steel wheels at color matching anyone here that has seen or maybe knows the color options really well or even worked with these know if its original or not? I'm in the process ofntrying to restore it to factory and want the correct color combo

I don't know, but I love it. Nice to see some other sexy xj's around here in PA. It has the same scheme as my truck lol.
Just on a few quick searches, it does seem hard to dig up any info about the factory paint schemes. Too much bullcrap fluff about the newer POS cherokee's.

I never put much thought into it. My jams are silver where its dark gray. I couldn't get a build sheet to see if it's on there. I'll look at my paint code tomorrow and see what it says

It should be. Plus it should also be part of the VIN code. Good luck on trying to get a build sheet for it. If I'm not mistaken they only go back to the early to mid 90's. I can't remember which one.
BTW, You paint does look factory. I have seen a few very similar in color as yours.

If worst comes to worst, an automotive paint supplier can find a non-weathered area like the door jamb/door latch area and use a "gun" that shoots a light beam at the paint. They can then use the results to mix up paint, normally with acceptable to good results.
Reverse engineering, so to speak.
