Default Need a little help..

Hi, I have a 91 jeep Laredo, the green machine has close to 250k. Its always had a little oil leak, but lately leaking is an understatement It Flows. Also i notice that at a stop or just a quick run up to the market causes it to smoke like crazy from under the driver side. The leak seems to be coming from the same area. Any ideas on whats going on?

Thanks for any advice you can offer.

It could be coming from your valve cover. I don't know much about it but I know that it could run along the side of the valve cover and down, hit the exhaust and burn off causing it to smoke. Mine did that when I first got it because of a cracked hose that went to the aftermarket amsoil filter the previous owner put on it. So I would check the valve cover seal first.

If it pours it's the rear main seal, drips on the exhaust and causes the smoke.
Other common leaks: oil filter adapter o rings (oil around the starter), and as stated rear side of the oil valve cover gasket.

x2 change 'em all at once and be done with it !!!
ps .. new oil pump at the same time, it could save your motor

First of all, welcome to the forum from Fantic.
I usually welcome the new members first but this time i missed the number of your posts.
Before answering your question i should know if you have had any experience in past with mechanical works and if you have a decent set of tools.
First thing to do is to pressure wash the underneath of the engine to trace the oil leak.

Ok, then you probably would be able to do the valve cover gasket and the filter adapter o rings.
The rear main seal is more difficult, i would suggest you to go to a repair shop for that.
But first find where it leaks.
