Default Need a little help

My name is John im new to this site. I bought a 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ, its been a dream of mine to own a Jeep! I want to do a 4.5 inch lift w/ 33" tires. I dont know exactly what to expect or the best brand of lift for the job. I need to know how wide I should run the tires, backspacing, rim selection, ect. I have been looking at the rubicon express lifts and rustys lifts, any comments on either? Anything I'll need that isn't included in the kits? Any tricks or tips? Help is very much appreciated!

I have the Rusty's 4.5 inch lift kit on my 91 XJ. If you want 33 inch tires with this lift, you will be doing tsome trimming on the fenders. You actually need a 6-6.5 inch lift on an XJ if you don't want to have to do any cutting on the fenders. You will want a rim with 3.5-3.75 inch back spacing for 33s not to rub on the inside. I just used my original stock rims with a 1.5 inch spacer. Works good with my 33s

Yeah I figured I would need to trim the fenders so I already planned on it. You like the rustys kit? I was thinking a rim with 4-4.5 back spacing. Also will i need a new track bar and what not?

youll need a new track bar, and sway bar links, longer that is.

I run a 4.25 back spacing. looks great and provides the clearance needed.

brake lines will also have to be addressed.

Where is the best place to get brake lines and things?

The Rusty's 4.5 inch kit comes with an adjustable track bar and a dropped sway bar mount. I just made my own quick disco sway bar links. I do like the Rusty's kit. Their coils are better than any others I've seen for an XJ. Just be warned, Rusty's stuff is spendy and their shipping cost is ridiculous.

Rusty's does over some brake line kits, or you can do some searching and find out that some brake lines from other Jeeps and Dodge trucks are compatible and longer.

I'd recommend going with longer lines then just drop brackets.

When my time comes that will be my direction.

Do some searches here, I believe YJs and Dakotas you can use.
