need help swappin gauge clusters
i have an 88 cherokee my current gauge cluster has only a speedo and dummy lights. i want a full gauge cluster with temp gauges and all. i bought jsut the cluster for 30 bucks from a junk yard.... what all need to be changed to make it work? are the senders the same? is all the wiring in tha dash? waht about the wiring for the tach? woudl it be easier to buy after market gauges?

mine dosent get drivin on the street just wheeled pretty hard. but yeha that is my main concern..... especially over heating.... i just think it is important to be fully informed of ur vehicals condition.... befor it causes a problem..... i dont mind runnin after market gauges but i would def. prefer to run a factor gauge cluster with full gauges! SOME 1 HELP! lol

You never said what cluster you had?
from my experience some are full pieces like your more than likely is... and some are JUST the gauges, need some fabrication to make a setting, gotta relocate the CEL / other trouble lights etc.
AND make sure you have the same voltages... the clusters work on very low volts, so if you swapped it out for one with oil etc. you would need to make sure that the same volts mean the same.. does that make sense?

For the 87-90 Cherokees everything is in place, just change the oil pressure sender and coolant temp sender as they are only switches for the idiot lights.
I did this recently on my 90 XJ, using a 87 cluster. Its nice to see whats going on.

the cluster i bougt i think was outta a 94 im sure sure what year.... and its a complete cluster with the gauges... it is a direct replacement.... i jsut dont know how to make the gauges work...... mine is an 88.
