i have an 88 cherokee my current gauge cluster has only a speedo and dummy lights. i want a full gauge cluster with temp gauges and all. i bought jsut the cluster for 30 bucks from a junk yard.... what all need to be changed to make it work? are the senders the same? is all the wiring in tha dash? waht about the wiring for the tach? woudl it be easier to buy after market gauges?

I'm in the same boat. I have an 00 with only the speed and gas gauge...I kind of worry that if something goes wrong that I won't know until it's to late

mine dosent get drivin on the street just wheeled pretty hard. but yeha that is my main concern..... especially over heating.... i just think it is important to be fully informed of ur vehicals condition.... befor it causes a problem..... i dont mind runnin after market gauges but i would def. prefer to run a factor gauge cluster with full gauges! SOME 1 HELP! lol

You never said what cluster you had?

from my experience some are full pieces like your more than likely is... and some are JUST the gauges, need some fabrication to make a setting, gotta relocate the CEL / other trouble lights etc.

AND make sure you have the same voltages... the clusters work on very low volts, so if you swapped it out for one with oil etc. you would need to make sure that the same volts mean the same.. does that make sense?

and heres a good site.. for your jeep

For the 87-90 Cherokees everything is in place, just change the oil pressure sender and coolant temp sender as they are only switches for the idiot lights.

I did this recently on my 90 XJ, using a 87 cluster. Its nice to see whats going on.

so is it a simple switch with the 2000 xj? What year(s) will work with mine? I really hate driving around not knowing what going on.
