For all you stereo guru's I need help. I am clueless when it come to this stuff so if anyone can help I would love for someone to recommend an upgrade. I have a 2001 Cherokee with the basic factory radio. All I want to do it upgrade the head unit that has an Ipod jack and the speakers. I don't want to mess with wiring, amps, or subs. I just want to simply pop out the old unit and speakers and slap some new and better ones in for better sound. I also don't want to cut to fit bigger speakers. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Very easy. Get yourself the metra dash kit and wiring harness. The harness plugs into your factory radio harness and then you just connect the wires from the new radio to the metra harness.

As far as speakers go I believe they are are all 5.25 in the 01.. You just have to cut the wires to the factory speakers and add new connectors for the new speakers

Just did mine last week. Went to walmart bought a dual nothing fancy. They have mounting brackets and quick plug assy. Wasn't bad. My driver door still don't work. Thought it was the factory radio. Beware the set up I bought made me connect the ground the the radio not part of the plug ins. Speaker are 5.25 in the rear and I thing4 in the door. Did the radio in like an hour.

I have bought a bunch of head units and speakers from Crutchfield over the years. Go online or give them a call. Good prices, great selection and they give you the dash kit, wiring harness and detailed installation instructions. You can also call their 800 # at anytime for installation and tech help during the process.

Just run a wire from the door through the boot.. That's how I fixed mine. The factory wire gets pinched its a common thing

+1. Go to Crutchfield's site, punch in your vehicle info, and look at everything that fits. You can filter by price, features, etc. They are a good company to buy from.

Another vote for crutchfield. I bought my alpine headunit through there. Very helpful and informative, although definitely not the cheapest.

Pioneer from Walmart.
$160 canadian.
Bluetooth connection to my iPhone is killer.
Just leave it in my pocket. It plays all my music. Can control from the display and hands free calling.
By far. Nothing beats it.
