Default need help narrowing down transmission problems

i have a 1998 cherokee with the 4.0 and ax 15 transmission with almost 300000 KM (not miles), for about a year now i have had to rev match to get my cherokee to easily switch in to 2nd gear. a couple months ago i got water in the tranny and changed the fluid later that week. there was a worrying amount of metal shavings on the plug, but i did not have the tools or money to get that properly looked into. lately the problem has been getting worse and switching into other gears is not as easy as it used to be and getting into second requires revving it higher then before. i dont know whether the problem is with the clutch or the transmission itself any help diagnosing the problem would be greatly appreciated.

what does the hydraulic fluid look like in the reservoir? all of the clutch hydraulics original? it sounds like a problem with clutch hydraulics. clutch master cylinder etc.

Ha! No worries, we've all been there.

And OP, you have a pic of how much metal shavings you got from this thing?
