Need Help with a Jeep Cherokee Stall Problem
I have a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Limited and for the first time it's busting my chop to find the problem. The car starts runs for 5 minutes and stalls. It will not start and after I leave it for 30 minutes it starts up again. If I drive it it will go less then a mile stop. Leave it and come back starts up again and drives. Replaced the fuel pump, swapped relays, bypasses resistor, put new battery (it needed one)...no change. Anyone have any ideas?? Thanks!

Typical heat death of a CkPS. (also called the CPS, Crank Position Sensor).
There are test procedures posted here and there on this forum. Might be some on The Tube, as well.
If that's what it is, make sure you replace it with genuine Mopar or NGK/NTK. The CPS and the O2 sensor are really touchy on our Jeeps. Aftermarket stuff has a really bad track record. You can get away with aftermarket on other sensors, but those two are just too touchy to risk it.
