I cleaned what I think is the MAT sensor on my 93 XJ 4.0 with throttle body cleaner and now it wont start... It ran before I pulled it out but it had a rough idle. Please help I have to drive to work on monday morning. Did the throttle body cleaner kill the sensor?

It could have if it wasn't a "sensor safe" cleaner.

Would that cause it to not start? It is the sensor in line with the vacuum ports on the top of the intake manifold.

If it is measuring vacuum it would be the map,not mat,mat would be an electrical connection.
Map on mine if it is unplugged it would not run at all.

It wasnt the MAP sensor I didnt mess with that. It has an electrical connection on the top of it. It doesnt read vacuum.

were you just cleaning the electrical connector?I would get an electrical cleaner approved for cleaning electrical and clean again with that,it evaporates fast and does not leave a residue.

Yea, they make electrical connector spray, and it works great. I had a Dakota and the heater blower wasn't working. Sprayed some cleaner on the connector and it works wonders.

I got it to start I had to hold the gas to the floor then it sputtered and finally started... I did spray cleaner in all the vacuum ports too so maybee that was it. I guess I just figured it wasnt that much.
