Default benefits of year for jeep cherokee

Is there a certain year jeep that is better than the others

I have had 91 cherokee and a 00 cherokee....personally i like the 91 alot better...seemed alot more "hyper"...it actually pretty fast...

now my 2000 wasnt as fast (or seemed) but it was alot more comfortable.

Is there a jeep year that gets better milage?

I know 97 -99 is a great year b/c they didnt have the 0331 head

anybody else have thoughts on this?

I love and I mean love 93's no safety features no airbags, no active restraints lol.
The steering wheel is very sporty still. I know the body style didn't change in 93. Except the grill option. And I think most 93's carry the 8.25 rear.

I got a 91 laredo (wrecked being worked on) and my new to me 99 classic

When first driving the 99 I felt like the interior was closing in on me. Between driver and pass airbags and door panels and dash being bigger.

I like the 99 style gauges much easier to see. Over all 99 looks better and seats are more comfy it seems well though out. It has an extra power outlet too.

But I like all the cubbyholes in the 91 there like no where to put stuff in the 99

I think 99 is a lil bettrr engine too. Newest without the 0331 heads. It seems to have a more organized engine bay.

Only year I wouldn't want really would be 95-96 I'm pretty sure both have airbag steering wheel but old gauges and its kinda hard to see them.

Well, first off 84-01 Cherokees featured something called 'awesomeness'. This was standard on all of them, and is something many vehicles don't even offer optionally.

With that being said, I love my '91. Granted some of it's stuff is annoying (like the bastardized CAD disco front axle), but otherwise I love it. OBD 1 is about as simple as it gets, but Renix takes it even further down in terms of simplicity. I find OBD 1 to be the balance. Cup holder-less sucks, but is easily fixed. Then again, Im biased as I;ve only driven older XJ's and love my '91 lol.

You know in Harry Potter how the wand chooses the wizard? Same rule applies; The XJ chooses the wheeler, and you bond.

Hard to pick just one year, imo, I have had an 87, a 92, a 97, and an 88 in that order, lol. My 87 had the most comfortable seats I have ever sat on in a kee, so I put them in every xj I owned when the 87 moved on. My 92 was nice and peppy, would fry stock tires at 20 mph, it was awesome, lol. I hated my 97, except for the center console with cup holders, 29 spline rear axle, and extra girdle chryco added to the mains. My 88, operating vent windows (though my 92 had those as well), can't say anything about what I like best about the 88, AMCJeep logos? Not a rot box maybe? It recieved pretty much everything I liked about the previous ones.

I'm biased and have only owned my '00 sport. But I love her.

Super comfortable interior. My only problem, there's no freaking space to keep anything! The center console gets filled up and the tiny glovebox is worse. That's my one complaint.

X2 on the 87. My. Beat up jeep could outdo or keep up with the stock 98 Cherokee my buddy had when we went wheeling. And my 4x4 isn't working haha. I love my 87 and the best part is, when something breaks there are plenty 87-93 jeep Cherokee around me in junkyards, but have never seen one above '95

I wanted a pre-96 vehicle, no ODB II. We have vehicle testing by the state EPA. They test by hooking up to the ODB II connector. No connector, no test. I could pull the cat off if I wanted, no problem.

My 2WD 92 Laredo, is my first Jeep. But I can honestly say she takes a lickin & keeps on tickin. 230,000 on her & she has more pep than some of the newer XJ's on the road. Got rid of the 35c for a 8.25, rebuilt my AX15 & went with a manga flow exhaust. I don't rock crawl but I love playing in the dirt in Lucerne Valley. She may be ugly but she sure can ride hahaha!!

If you wear seat belts you don't need air bags.
