Correct. But you asked for a bolt-in.

No magic dust here.

Best bet would be to move up to an 87 or newer XJ with the 4.0 Unfortunately, it doesn't pay to put much money into an 85.

There were plenty of 87+ XJs built, you will be able to find a good one if you look hard enough.

You could always source a 2.8 from a Buick or Pontiac with fuel inj. and maybe even a supercharger. Way better than the utility model 2.8 you have in there now. GM messed those engines up when they put them into trucks and the like, 2.8s' did get better when fuel inj. came along alot less problems. You would have to get the wiring and computer along with the motor, how much time have you got?

Oh. Now that'd be kinda sweet. I've seen one at the junkyard before.

If you did a 4.0 isn't there some differences in the firewall you'd have to deal with?

Yeah with a 4.0 you would have to do some metal moving.
Some of the Buicks' were turbocharged and the Fieros' had superchargers on some of the GTs'. The turbo 2.8 is what was in the Grand National in the 80s', I also believe there was a 3.2? also that could be a bolt in.

OK... then what was it? I'm not a Grand National guy, just aware they exist and were sick on power in the 80s'.

I don't mean to burst your bubble, but most if not all of the V-6 Fieros' burned to the ground. A good running T 6 would twist your Jeep in half if you ever got the traction. Better to find a 2.8 and leave it be.
