look at the 6.30 mark

I have also seen people use a big screw driver leveraged up from the bottom.

The carriage is supposed to have a certain amount of tightness going in. I guess that one is really tight.

If I remember correctly I had issue getting mine out also. I pried at the diff case opening and at the ring gear bolts. My biggest issue was getting it back in or was that the rear I'm thinking off?

You can use a big pry bar. The bearings are supposed to be tight. They use a spreader bar at the factory that fits into the two large holes in the casting and spread it apart to slip the carrier in. I built my own for diff work.

A block of wood and a BFH or prybars are what i see most use. I remember someone somewhere used a slide hammer with a hook on the end of it to pop the carrier loose. You can buy hooks, but i think the guy made his own. He left the caps in but left them loose so the carrier didnt fall out. They have a bit of heft to them.

Put a rag in there and rotate it until it wedges against the pinion gear then pry it out.

That’s what I did. Fed a rag in between gear and pinion. Then it moved out about 1/4 inch, then I could pry it out. Getting it back in was actually easier
It popped almost all the way in on first try. Then I brought out a BFH and it beat the rest of the way in

by far the easiest way I have found is to put a spanner on one of the ring gear bolts and just rotate the pinion gear via the flange with a big shifter...works every time, the spanner wedges against the diff housing

I had to do this many times with an ARB carrier that is setup with much more pre-load than a normal diff carrier
