I have a 89 xj, recently I've been dealing with a shifting problem ( or so I think ) at first I thought it was maybe the tps, it got swapped , calibrated and did not fix the issue. So when I'm driving, when I get to about between 35 and 55mph it seems like it downshifts and it drags to get any speed, sometimes it goes back up but it mainly stays down and won't allow to shift again or the overdrive to kick in, I'm new to this so I'm not sure. The idle drops when it does it and it just stays there, I can floor the pedal and just won't go any faster. I'm thinking it's the shifting solenoids but since I don't know crap, I'm looking for some help.
