Default Mystery in Cruise Control land

Well, yet another perplexion has inched its way into the wonderful world of Cherokee-ville-burg-dale-ton-city...........

About a year ago, I bit the bullet and decided NOT to re-solder the wires in the turn signal stalk which are from the cruise switch and went an bought me a new stalk.....

Things were fine until a short time ago (couple weeks maybe), and I noticed a peculiar problem when trying to engage the cruise control....

At a speed from say 35mph to 50mph, I can engage it and it stays absolutely perfect on speed.

However, when I am on interstate or other high speed posted road say going 60mph to whatever (ah-henh!) the Jeep will stay at speed for about a minute, then begins creeping creeping up speed until its floored
I am thinkin WTF? So I wonder, you guys with a '91 out there have you seen this?

Just so ya know, I have a new speed sensor in the transfer case (not speedo gear), and I just put a new Throttle Position Sensor on as I had this symptom about ten yrs ago and put a new TPS on and it went away.

Have checked the vacuum lines and all "seems" secure and tight. (used some carb cleaner around suspect hose connections while it was at idle, had no change in idle)

The only thing I can think of is that the vacuum regulator over by the battery is getting weak (i.e. internal diaphragm). The doo-hickey thingy that looks like a ufo with a iv outta it that has a cable over to the throttle body.

Any insight or direction to begin?

Again at the lower speed, the speed holds just fine. this is why I am .

Thanks, and hope everyone had a great holiday especially our armed services folks far away! God Bless!

When you select the SET switch in a typical system the servo just keeps applying tension to the throttle until you let off the switch. Now either its in the switch or servo.
