my xj keeps miss firing

xj is runing bad when under a load
I have a 1990 cherokee with a 4.0, when i start it up it runs fine and i can rev it up and it runs fine. But when its in gear and I'm getting it up to speed it starts to miss. Once I get it up to speed it stops missing and runs ok. I tried new plug wires and a new cap and rotor but it still keeps missing. i don't know what to try next. Any help would be appreciated.
