..As for the fan clutch is skip the ZJ fan clutch. Got one by accident it was the wrong part. Said ah well its an upgrade anyway. I couldn't stand hearing the damn thing all the time, it literally NEVER disengages even a little. It sounds like an 18 wheelers fan when you accelerate. It'd be a waste if you ask me and annoying. Not saying don't do it but just a heads up to ya.
Fan clutch tests are unreliable. Forget them. Mine tested good with all those spinning cold/warm/etc and still turned out to be subpar, once I put the new one in. When in doubt, replace it, its not an expensive item.

The t-stat can easily be tested/checked for proper operation in a pan of water, on top of the stove, using cooking thermometer. It should appear closed at it's temp rating, be 1/4"-3/8" open (wide open) at +/-15* above it's temp rating and move very slowly/smoothly between open/closed positions.

From a pure effort standpoint, I suppose so. But why throw away a perfectly good $10 bill?......not to mention the gas/time spent driving to get that new $10 bill. If u throw away a good old $10 bill, u best test that new $10 bill before u install it. In <than 10 minutes, either one, old or new, can be proven good........................or not.

......and if u buy it at a local auto parts store and something is not right, it's easily exchanged, u don't have to wait days on mail order.
