Quote: Thats completely irrelevant for people who're gonna use FMS 19lb/hour or Neon injectors on a pre97 XJ. You don't need an AFP to run them. How do I know this? because I'm running FMS 19lb injectors on a stock FPR and no issues.
Good point. When using injectors designed to run at 39 psi there is no reason to spend the money on an adjustable FPR.

IMHO it is wise to check your fuel pressure ensuring the injectors will run at their optimum spray pattern.

Little is gained when attempting to override your injectors by increasing the designed pressure. Some injectors will actually shutdown or function poorly with excessive pressure. If your engines performance is improved by turning up the pressure on an adjustable FPR, chances are that the original FPR was not delivering the proper pressure to begin with.

Ok just got my Neon injectors in the mail today from ebay. Half of them look like crap imo, and I'm felling nervous about putting them in my 01 XJ. I'm a firm believer that you pay for what you get, and I'm thinking I should have just bought new mustang injectors and called it a day. This is my daily driver and I'm doing this upgrade for better MPG's more than performance. I know I'm going to have to get new orings on most of these, any advice on cleaning these up a bit? Should I just buy new mustang injectors?

just received my FMS remand injectors from precision on saturday and for $131CDN im more than happy with how they look new tips,o-rings, fully cleaned, there is some minor pitting of the body on 2 of them but it doesnt affect the functionality so it doesnt bother me. even came with a sheet showing how they tested.

now for this stupid rain to let up for a day or so and let my yard drain and i can get the thing back together and see how it works.

u can see inside the injectors? cool... someone elses problems huh... yeah not likely... just spray them with alittle brake cleaner or something and get the grease off... i didnt even swap O-rings on mine... and why are you thinking between new 5.0's and old neon? thats dumb... if u got the money for new 5.0's... then buy new neons... this isnt that big of a deal... plug the neon injectors into your fuel rail... turn on the key and bump the starter so the fuel pump comes on... if they dont let fuel out then there fine... if you find one bad then buy another one... there cheap... youll still come out better... if you dont want them send them to me... ill send ya my 5.0 injectors... all 8 of them work fine...

Yeah, you are probably right, I'm being paranoid. I'll plug them in the rail and give em a try. Should I soak them in carb cleaner or anything like that before I test them?

you might take the end with the 4 holes or nozzle end and swirl them around in the carb cleaner... the rest is sealed and or electrical... i say plug them up and test... if one is spraying then pull it back out and try and clean it up... may be all it takes... but if they all hold pressure fine then just install them and drop a bottle of lucas in you next tank of gas... also if u see any bad or cut o rings you have 12 to choose from with your old injectors...

I'm pretty new to the XJ scene but have been in the Mustang 5.0 scene since I started driving so I've got at least 3 sets of 19s laying around. What # injectors do XJs come with? Have any of you upgraded to 24#s? Here's a good place to buy from for those of you interested in buying new...

Good point! Why not use any old used part when try to improve performance?

I'm detecting your sarcasm.

Injectors are actually pretty simple. Not much can go wring with them- most of the time they get clogged, which isn't their fault. This is a worth while upgrade, buying new is just a waste of money. Are people dumb for putting used D44s under their rigs too? Yowsers!

Again, good point. yet no one has suggested to ohm check the coils. Just swish'em around in some cleaning fluid and pop'em in.

My point is that if your gonna spend money on injectors, one should consider that these are precision engine parts that need to be properly cleaned, checked and flow matched for an engine set. Then your money is well spent and the performance is guaranteed.

This is why I posted a number of video links. To help those willing to learn a little bit more about injectors.

I guess you haven't heard of take-offs have you? New Injectors are really really expensive. Why by brand new ones at $50-100 a pop when you can buy ones that have a couple hundred miles at best and get a whole set for $100 or less?

They do, its Not a HUGE difference but it definitely does make a difference. Every little thing helps

But buying brand new injectors isn't worth the cost involved. buying a set of used but in good condition injectors for cheap is definitely worth it. Why would I go spend $400 on a set of injectors when for a couple hundred more I could buy a header and 2000 intake and gain a solid 25 or more HP and Ft lbs of Tq.

lol... better leave the cherokee dana 44's and S10 springs in the junk yards then... since nobody would ever use them to increase performance...

thinking way to much into it... bet ur the guy who goes and buys the plastic clip that holds a wire bundle from a dealer vs. just tie wrapping it... and ride...
