Default Muffler Recommendation?

So last summer my cat started rattlin. When I went to have it replaced the guy told me my 20 yea-old muffler had a hole in it too, so I had him replace it with a stock one. I like my Jeep quiet.

It worked fine for a year and a couple of months. The only thing I didn't like about it was when I'd floor it, the exhaust note would turn into this loud "whoosh".

A couple of weeks ago the exhaust started buzzing. Quickly got worse. Looked under the car and the muffler is split.

I'm looking for a replacement; quiet, and no whoosh.

I thought about the Walker SoundFX, but three out of four reviews on Summit were awful, and all for the same thing ... failure.

Does anybody have a recommendation?

I agree with Turbo X_J. Just get the right Walker Quiet Flow muffler. Comes with a lifetime warranty. Probably going to have to buy a new tail pipe unless you think you can separate the two.

I recently replaced mine with the Dynomax super turbo catback. I'm happy with it. 160$ shipped from amazon.

Same here. Easy to install and not loud. I used stainless band clamps rather than the included U-shaped ones.

I use a Thrush Welded. Cost, effective, good flow, not loud, but has a nice throaty, controlled tone in the back.
Cost me about $29.50 for it and is available at Advance Auto.

Magnaflow oval muffler fan here. Sounds good and not loud at all.

I put one of these on as well. My OEM style muffler was failing, and I had to grab this one in a hurry (knew about it from watching a couple youtube videos). I bought it as a temporary fix, but ended up keeping it on because I like it so much. I have had it on for nearly a year now, and would definitely buy it again if I had to. It gets pretty quiet in the 1800-2000 RPM range, which coincides nicely with the XJs cruising speeds. The price is excellent.

I coupled it to a Magnaflow Hi-flow cat. My Cat was literally clogged lol. With a Banks Stainless header, I get a slight growl at mid-throttle. Almost went with one of the three mufflers my dad made for the Wagoneer. The length and diameter were too large for the XJ's belly.

I bit the bullet and bought a Flowmaster 50 and it's not loud at all. Just nice and mellow up to about 1500 rpm, then you can hardly hear it. Heavy gauge metal and welded in.
