ok so i did it because it was the cheepest option for me for now but it wasnt a problem. the only issue i have is that they are not bright bc they are not gettin the voltage they need but thats my fault. i powered them straight from the battery using 18ga wire. im gunna get some 10ga and it should be fine. ill try to get pics up later on today.

just changing the gauge of the wire wont change voltage, larger wire just reduces the friction loss and stress of the electrical current, the amperage is controlled by the amp fuse of the system

I have my blazers mounted on the front bumper... I wouldn't want to run them on the roof; as it is, I constantly get people flashing their lights at me when I have them on, and mine are aimed at the street about 15 feet out.

Just my 2 cents. They'd be fine on the roof for wheeling, but people will get irritated at you on the street.

I think it is illegal to run overhead lights even if they are 55 watts because of the angle and hazzard to other drivers

well i wired it straight off the battery, not to the fuse panel and it didnt come with enough wire for that. so i added some that i had and its a smaller gauge, which i kno causes friction and if left on long enough could heat up and i dont want a fire. so i want to put a larger gauge wire on any way. would this be no help for the brightness of the lights?

nope, wont change the bightness of the lights, but like you said, less heat and fire danger which is huge. I have melted wires before and its scarier than crap!!! how is your wiring done? just walk me through like battery to fuse to switch to lights to ground, if you bump up the fuse you will allow more energy through to the lights but then you will deffinetly need heavier guage wire
