are you running relays? how many, and do you have your lights wired to 2 switches?
Right now, I have 4 switches installed into the overhead console. I am only using one for my experimental set of Arc Lights but the other three are in place and wired down to the relay location for future use.

I used Cat-5E cable for the control voltage from the switches to the relays. I used a pair of wires per switch but could split it out to run 8 switches/relays if needed. The control voltage is fed by a 5 amp dedicated line up to the overhead. (No need for mega amperage switches when running as control voltage to relays)

The circuit feeding the Arc lights through the relay is fused at 10 amps for now. Now that I know this set up is working the way I want it, I will look for better lights and fuse them appropriately…

The next time I visit the Bone-Yard, I plan on trying to find a rely/fuse center like the stock one so I can make this extra clean looking…

Personal opinion only here. But I wouldn't use Cat 5 cable even if only tripping relays. I tend to go a bit overkill though. I always run a relay and fuse for a pair of lights. And yes, I fuse the switches for the relays. I had an in dash electrical fire once. ONCE.

I've pulled lots of scary wiring from used cars I buy due to lighting and stereo installs, more than I care to think about.

And no matter what switch or gauge of wire you use, you will not get 100 Watts of light from a 55w bulb...

And I will be using a relay harness when I swap in higher wattage bulbs for my headlights.

relays for sure will help them be brighter, and take a lot of stress off the switches.

also like already said if you really want them brighter swap in hundred watt bulbs, but be sure to up the guage wire, and relay them.

also i hear all this talk about crimp connectors and other connectors. the best way to connect wires by far is to solder it and then use heat shrink tubing. then its basically uncut wire.

I'll get some pics of my wiring tomorrow. I dont like being able to see the relays, fuses, and wiring out everywhere so I used a project box from the Shack to mount all my stuff in. I also used an auxillary fuse box instead of inline fuses with six slots for add-ons. This is just for my fog lights right now but i'm going to add some roof lights later on. Theres room in the box for one more relay. I have to figure out a wiring problem too. It was late and cold and I was in a hurry to be done so I got lazy and didnt test the power source for my switch and I think thats the problem.

Wow, does that mean I should go pull those thousands of feet of power over Ethernet cabling out of all those commercial buildings I’ve wired to code? Guess we should all just go back to the old buggies too, this gasoline thing will never catch on either...

Not to bust your chops, go ahead and waste the cable, space, time and money to run 16 wires when you could replace it with a single 5 Amp run of Ethernet cable...

No, as expressed, personal opinion. I understand why you did it, but I won't.
