Motor shuts down

Motor shuts down
I have a 2000 sport today while pulled over idling for about 10 minutes the motor shut down started up was fine going home about 2 miles went back out a hour later. store got there on the way home shout down again going about 30 mph started right back up again and drove home. That whole trip was about a mile anybody out there have any ideas as to what the problem is??

Get your battery load tested at your nearest auto parts store. They'll do it for free. Any idea how old your battery is?
Shutting down like that can also be an effect of a crankshaft position sensor that's crapping out.

It is not unusual to see a crank sensor suffer from thermal (heat related) failure.
If you do end up buying a crankshaft position sensor, do yourself a favor and buy it directly from Jeep. Aftermarket crank sensors are "hit and miss" with a lot of miss.

Hmm.. Other symptoms? Anything like an overheating or knocking? Your best bet would be to get it on a code reader and see if there's anything that pops up. Better to do that than to throw money at it!

Agree with the above advice.

You do not have to have any cooling system issues to have a component like the crank sensor fail from heat created from the engine at normal running temperatures.
