Default Motor Mounts... Question.

Hey all. Been looking around under the hood some more.
Noticed that the top halves of my motor mounts are gone (missing rubber).
They aren't very expensive from the parts store, but won't be able to buy them until Friday. I know it isn't very good to be driving around with them like that. I don't know HOW I managed to miss them before.

Can I get away with just jacking the motor up a bit in order to remove the old mounts and put new ones on... or am I going to have to pull the thing?
I don't have my manual on hand for the moment, and can't reference it. I did a search, but didn't come up with any blatantly titled threads.
Little help?

Been there man. it's easy but I'll give you a heads up of one potential stumble you can easly be ready for.
Loosen up the pins going through the mounts, jack up under oil pan wth a blosk of wood, ONLY enough to relieve weight on mounts. remove and replace.
If you have an 90 deg. oil filter adapter like most XJs it gets in the way of the pas side pin sliding out of the mount so you may have to remove the OFA.
I got lucky enough since the nut side of pas side bolt pin was on the OFA side. When you put it back n put it in from front to back so it's not a prob later.

It's really quite easy aside from the potential OFA issue. The OFA needs a T60 torx bit and it's tight fit. Search Oil filter adapter removal and you'll see it's not too much work. If you DO have to pull the OFA be sure to get ALL 3 O rings that go in it from the dealer. It's like 2.60, and often a source of mystery leaks.

BTW Check you motor mount to block bracket bolts. 3 on each block bracket. I didn't and almost killed my rig when the loose bolts sheared on the trail and the entire motor dropped on the front axle. Misse the radiator by millmeters..
My nghtmare......

Almost cost me my job since my trail rig is my DD.

700 bucks later I check the block brackets monthly since they can wiggle loose over time. Use a dab of blue loctite on each one jic.

Thanks for the tip/heads up guys.
I am not sure if I have the oil filter adapter... haven't actually craned my head underneath that part to see. I know that it has been upgraded at some point in its life to take a standard PA16 filter...so it probably does. Pretty sure that was a factory thing... because when I last looked up in a book what the filter spec was for my engine, I got two different part numbers...adapter/change was probably a factory fix to eliminate that.
