alright so due to wut was saw as a head gasket problem.... we replaced the head gasket to find that the block was cracked from overheating... so we performed a motor swap took us two weeks of sparetime.... the old motor even cracked ran great no problems.... just idled a little low and had milky oil constantly... well the new motor since hooking everything up, we cant seem to gett it running right, it idles like a brand new one when it wants to, surges occasionally, and tries to died if you mash the gas, also is you toy with the gas to get it to rev it shakes like a bat outta hell... and anytime you put it in gear, it dies.... any suggestions on where to begin...? btw its a 4.0L with an automatic tranny.... it threw a check engine light but cant get it read becuase i live in the county the only way to get it read would be to trailer it and i dont have a trailor....

Rough idle, surging and dies when you mash the gas. That all sounds like symptoms of a major vacuum leak to me, Bro. Check and re-check all vacuum connections. It's easy to miss one when your putting a motor back together after a rebuild.
