Missing transmission fill bolt?
First post here, but just wanted to say I've learned a ton about getting this '96 XJ I've inherited back in shape (especially coming from zero knowledge). So, thanks all...
Question: while replacing the transmission fluid, I discovered that the previous owner had not replaced the fill bolt (or so it seems). I thought it might be the same 14mm bolt that covers the drain plug, but no luck. Any idea on the size of that thing?
Also, if you look on the bottom of the transmission (at the 6 o'clock position), it looks as if there's also a bolt missing. Tried searching but couldn't determine if there's supposed to be one there. Any ideas on this?
Thanks!

Looks like youkre missing a bolt in the second pic.
As for the fill hole, I have no idea. I've always filled it from the dipstick tube. That might be the vent hole for the trans?
Someone else might chime in on this one.

Can't see your pictures because my phone won't load them, but if you have a hole on the upper half it may be the full level bolt (it leaks oil once its at proper level)
And any auto store typically carries a selection of drain/fill plug bolts for about any application.

It's an automatic. Fill it through the dipstick tube. 3.75 quarts and then check it per the instructions on the dipstick.
