First thing you should do is change your oil. Change it to the same brand I use. I have been running this brand in everything I've own since I upgraded from the horse. Its the only oil on the market thats worth a *&$@ and everything else should be banned.
It will solve all your knocking, pinging, electrical, and starting problems. It will even fix your NSS too.

This is a forum for Jeep owners to discuss what ever they wish about their rides. This is not " ask the Pro desk". When a poster asks a question, it is up to him to gather the opinions of others and decide what to do with it. Do they sometimes get the wrong info, sure but you can get the wrong info from your local mechanic as well. Just because he may work at a shop and have grease on his hands doesnt mean he knows what he is talking about.
This place is no different than asking a friend a question. You have to take what you hear with a grain of salt.
If you believe everything written here as truth then you probably believe everything you see on TV. If thats the case than there is no help for ya anyway.

So, I gave a bad example. You guys still get my point, right?
Let me put it this way. Have you ever gone into Auto Zone and asked the person at the desk about something, and sort of recoiled at their answer, because they OBVIOUSLY have no idea, yet decided to come up with some sort of BS answer anyway just so they don't look stupid?
That's what happens here sometimes.
Like when I went to Auto Zone to have my check engine code scanned. Guy told me he couldn't find the code, so it meant that it was my Oil Change light.
*facepalm*
The number of times I've seen fuel pump suggested for a no-crank situation on this site is what motivated me to post this rant. The number of times I've heard someone suggest window motor when the passenger window button doesn't work, but the window does work from the driver's side is what motivated me to post.
Those of you who are taking offense to this thread who clearly DO know their stuff... stop for a second and realize that I wasn't aiming this thread at you. I was aiming this thread as those people who would be right at home behind an Auto Zone counter, just BSing their way along.

while I respect your opinion, and I agree with you about posting misinformation, your example is pretty far off base.
On these vehicles the connections (grounds and battery terminals) are responsible for probably 60-70% of the "no start with a click" scenarios. There is no cost involved in cleaning those - and minimal time, and never a bad idea to do even if you are not having issues. A bad battery accounts for probably another 20%, and a bad starter is probably the last thing on the list - it really doesn't happen that often. So to make someone take off a starter to bench test it really requires more work than anything else, and is the least likely thing to go wrong all things considered

You don't have to pull a starter to test voltage going to it... clip on multimeter leads and have someone turn the key. Power going to it, but nothing happens? There ya go.

That too. Like I just pointed out in a recent "no start" thread... A guy who proclaims that he's new to the forum and new to Jeeps PROBABLY isn't going to know what "NSS" means.
So when someone suggests "It's your NSS I told you 3 times", the OP is probably wondering "WTF is an NSS?"

At the end of the day its free "advise" . there is the option to go pay someone to get the "correct" awnser. how the **** should we know what the exact problem is right off the bat with all the BS info people post all the time? lol
"My window doesn't work.. just changed my oil is it related?"
We are not in front of the car. We can not see/test/check over the vehicle. Most cases the poster doesn't have a clue and its the blind leading the blind.
I do get your "point" but its mute at that. just another lame post in OEM TECH if you ask me lol
