So it's hard to start, or misfires after you start it, or both? We need a lot more info to help you. Check engine light on?

There is something wrong with my Jeep. What could it be?

This is only slightly more vague than the OP's question.

98 xj, no check engine light, randomly skips a spark as if water was in distributor but distributor is dry. replaced starter and exhaust is smelling a lil rich

Still a pretty vague description. Does it misfire when cold, hot, both? At idle or at higher speeds?

Some general suggestion:
1. Tune-up (cap, rotor, plug, wires)
2. Clean all ground connections and both ends of battery cables
3. Clean IAC
4. Test fuel pressure

Could very well be, but there are many possible causes.

true. ima check spark plugs to see what condition they're in. if they seem good ill get cap and rotor. wires don't click tight on distributor but i have them held on tight so might as well replace those too
