My issue is that my 88 xj w/closed system renix will not warm up past 150*.. I know they r supposed to run at around 210*. Wouldnt complain but when I turn on my heater it works good then the temp drops to about 140 and heat not work so good.. The only thing I havent changed in the cooling system is the heater core itself.. Yes I have a 195* Tstat I have tried 4 other stats of the same temp range as well.. Please O jeep gods from this great site tell me wat it is

Have you verified the engine operating temp? And you can disconnect the core hoses, drain them, and fill with 50/50 water and vinegar(white). Let it sit for a while and then flush it out. It's going to make an unholy mess. The other thing I wonder is are you sure you have all the air purged out? I read somewhere that an HO 4.0 thermostat housing will work and you can use the extra hole with a drain fitting as an air purge, putting it at the highest point in the system pretty much.

yes i have verified the temp with a infrared thermo. tried to flush the core but i am waiting on new hoses to arrive.. With 325,xxx miles on them they are stuck on there lol.. Yes i have the ho stat housing which is where i have my gauge hooked to.. I am pretty positive that all the air is outta the system..

This may help you burp the cooling system, if it's still needs burping.

I don't really have any input on your problem but just wanted to second the search hating. It seems everytime I try and search for something specific I get a LOT of matches that sem to have nothing to do with what I was looking for.

you're welcome and good luck! re the search, I have better results when I use "advanced search" and search key words for "titles only".

naturist, if you search "renix" in titles you may find some info. You could also edit the title of this thread so it contains the word renix, then you might get some help from the renix people here (strange though they may be).

Go to the dealer and purchase part number 83501426 thermostat with gasket. Install it.

It's always smart to listen to Cruiser. I just backflushed and installed a new 195* from O'Rielies. Was still cool. This < $20 meter measured the housing at 150*. (it actually was accurate with ice and boiling water!) Time for another new T-stat.

Some DMM (digital multimeters) can measure temperature however most people are using "non contact infrared thermometers" to check temps at the thermostat housing.
