If any of you guys want to see just how capable the XJ is, check out this guy's site on YouTube! It's amazing what he can do with that thing! One of his episodes shows what he has done to it .

I only posted it here because I figured it would reach most of the newbies quicker. I am aware that it's modified, but he hasn't done that much to it and he knows how to drive it and it's limitations. I think at one point he said he has $5000 invested in it.

yeah... I've watched some of his stuff too... and honestly some of the places he's gotten that thing in AND back out (up out) of really speak to why tweaking/modifying old XJ's is the way to go.
And makes me want to do more mods to mine a lot of the time.

This post is awesome, and personally, I wouldn't care much about where it's posted. Recovery is most important when off road, and anything people can post to show what to do, and, even MORE importantly what NOT to do, as well as how to un-cluck a bad situation, is helpful...

I didn't mean to come across rudely, and I am aware who "the old fart with a wrench" is. To be clear: I'm not going to sit here and harass people online. Just trying to keep things tidy
As for Matt's Jeep (the Yellow Banana!): Jealous of the ice cold air conditioning. lol

When I first started watching his videos, my first thought was "How does he keep that thing cool?" He explains it all in a video. I seriously like the Corvair hood louvers. He also talks a lot about tires and tire pressures. I think the major reason for his success is the Yankum Ropes. In a recent video he complained about the AW4's inability to stay locked in 1st gear in deep sand.
