Matt's Off Road Recovery
I could be wrong of course, often am...now that I think of it, seem to remember it might only be good for pre97 XJ or it sets a code

The Yellow Banana is a 2001 XJ, but this guy hasn't a clue about electronics! He's said so himself, but I'm sure his friends do. He laughed about his CEL being on forever because of an evap leak!
At one point, the engine started running a little hot and he found his electric fan wasn't coming on. He just took a relay out, blew the dust out of the PDC, stuck the relay back in, and it was fixed! Then he had to explain how different the sand was compared to beach sand. He said beach sand has granules that are all different sizes and shapes whereas the sand he has to deal with is all fine powder with round granules that act like driving on marbles when they get wet. You just sink in.
I just laugh every time he shows up when people expect a tow truck!

hmmm...I can double check on that, but isnt it possible to do a fairly simple wiring loom hack that allows manual control over the solenoids that control 1st and 2nd gear (allowing either to be locked) ?

I wired mine so that first gear is locked out when in the 1-2 position and my switch is energized. I hate having the trans downshift into first when I am in 4lo unless I want it to. Feels like slamming on the brakes. Mine is a 98 and I set a code,it goes away after a while, no bother.
The trickiest part of the hack is working with very tiny wires that go to the TCU.
