Manifold Bolts
Is there any secret to tightening them? or getting to them more or less...

Lift shouldn't be in your way. You can get to all of em from the top after you strip the manifold. With an assortment of extensions you can fit a 3/8 drive torque wrench in there too.

You need everything off. If you take the egr tube off you should have no problem. I think there's a pic on my albums before I tightened mine. It takes some doing. Try different extensions combos.

Your gonna want to remove the air cleaner and get something to stand on. Also, all need to be done at once. Start a little at the middle then work out, then again, and again. I use a universal on allot of extension for the very rear one.
Then Slick is near enough if I screw something up without a 3/8 torque wrench I can call him to see if he can bail me out.

Follow Slick and Flintstone's advice. Ditch the air cleaner right off the bat.

Did my 89 not that long ago. Gear wrenches and a long arm are all I used. Power steering pump and airbox have to come off. Then snake ur arm underneath from the front.Only problem I had was getting the middle 2 bolts on the bottom started back. Had 2 fingers on them trying to turn them in.
