I had the same problem it was shaking like crazy at 60 and the I put a 4.5" lift in and it started doing it at 30. The problem was the front driveshaft. I took out the front drive shaft and the problem went away. I have since purchased a brand new drive shaft and installed it and still no problem.

have you recently put a lift on your XJ? Sounds like bad drive line vibrations, have you checked your angles?
EDIT: x2 on the ujoint. If you haven't recently done any work to XJ and it just started it's probably a bad rear u joint.

most likely rear u-joints. Just had to do all of mine. Generic replacement parts are around $25-30 at the local auto store for doing it yourself. You'll pay more for higher quality joints and obviously Labor charges if you have your local Chevron station do it.

they are the pieces that look like an x in the drive shaft this is most likely your problem are your shocks stock as well or have they been replaced any time soon (oh and the ujoints should only run you about 15 bucks a piece unless you get some off road super joints or some thing like that )

you want more? Well, I also had a messed up driveshaft that needed to be rebuilt...for a pretty penny. Could out of alignment. Just take it to the shop, and tell them the problem. It's most likely u-joints (as was the concensus with my problem and yours). If you can't do it yourself or are going out of town and don't have the time (as I didn't) just take it to the shop.
BUT supposedly, it's fairly easy to do with relatively basic tools. Just thread search and you should find a how-to!

here take a look at this http://www.off-road.com/jeep/reviews...t/CTMvsOEM.JPG you most likely need to replace them and your rear shocks
