Hi guys, I need to lower my 1999 cherokee xj 4 door back to stock specs. Do I just need to find OEM front spring/rear leafs? It's so high that my wife has a great deal of trouble getting up in it. Even with side bars...lol Thanks for any help on this. I can take some pics tomorrow, if that is needed to help.

 

Some lifts are only springs and other lifts are springs plus changing out stock parts for different parts. Pics would be good to see whats been done.

 

I saw your other post trying to figure out if you have the tow package. I don't recall f the tow package had more lift or just stiffer suspension. Anyway if you need to figure out how much lift you have, I believe the stock height should be 17.5" from the center of wheel to the bottom edge of the fender flare in the front, 17" in the rear from center of wheel to fender flare. You might need to replace the shocks back to oem length as well.

You would have to go back to stock tire wheels, lots of work to change out those leaf packs. I would look for another XJ that hasn't been lifted.

 

Do I need to use less leafs on the rear springs? I just took both sides loose, to put on side bars ( see the other thread). Be easy to do again, after that. How about the front springs? Lowering springs? I have compressed springs before on other vehicles. Makes me nervous as hell, though.
