Default Low System Voltage

I have an 89 XJ, and for as long as I can remember the operating voltage has been 11-12v. I've had 4 or 5 alternators in it and the voltage has always been the same. My dad's 96 however runs at 14v like any other vehicle. Also, whenever I give someone a jump it will barely turn their engine over while mine bogs a bit, and never took that much juice to start mine in the first place.

So is this just a renix thing? Or could it be something in the alternator circuit, possibly the voltage regulator?

I had a sub in it for a year and never had any issues with dimming headlights or anything if that helps at all. TIA

Check your voltage at the battery with a DMM while the engine is running. Got 13.8-14.5 volts? Dash voltmeters are notorious for wrong readings.

Click on the "pink link" in my signature right below here and do what is outlined in Posts 1, 3, and 18 before chasing around for other things. A very good time investment into your renix Jeep.

Ok, so I followed post #18 but couldn't find an end to fit the stud. So I ran the wire out to the door check bracket. My mirrors are worlds better! Yet voltage remains the same... Oh, and I discovered a bad pressure sensor too no extra load on the system too btw. I was parked when I took this.
