2000 sport, 215k, 4.0 4x4.
I have 4 codes that have recently threw the engine light in my xj. The first two are for evap leaks. I cleaned off the filthy gas cap and they keep coming back, so I will have to figure that out. The next two codes are for No Engine Bus Messages and No Transmission Bus Messages. The Jeep is still in perfect working order. No misfire, full power, shifts smooth, and all the gauges work as intended. Does anyone know why these codes would appear if everything else works? Since the light came on I've driven it about 100 miles and its been fine. I'm not that concerned about it but would like the light gone. Also if anyone has advice for the evap code that is much appreciated. Thanks.

 

Uncertain of the Evap code situation but if you're having TBM and EBM messages but no other symptoms I'd be led to wonder if perhaps the connections to the cluster itself are having issues, or if a connection somewhere in the line is having issues. Though if both codes are showing it could mean either a bad fuse or a failed/failing PCM. Might be fine at the moment but could just refuse to start one day if it is the PCM going out. But that is a big issue. If it keeps acting fine it might mean you have a short somewhere that you'll have to hunt down.
