A couple weeks ago, the wife said something about a noise when turning in the Jeep. My son & I looked & checked a while before I found that the track bar joint on the driver's side was a bit loose where it bolts up to the frame bracket.
So this morning I braved the bad weather ( just like the postman code
)
and drove over to the shop at the airport ( nice & warm ) and figured out how to fix the loose joint. Trying to move the nut just turned the tapered stud, so I put a bottle jack under the joint, and jacked it up until the front tire was off of the floor, which as it turned out, held the stud, so I could torque the nut.
I'm thinking the bar was replaced at some point, and some lazy SOB didn't torque it up !
Anyway......no noise now
And I forgot to mention, that this was the first time I used the part-time 4WD on the road, and of course it worked great on the ice !
