check out the company defender roof racks. i was also looking for the same thing, something that didnt look to high and defender makes a nice one. i dont have any pics but you can find them threw google

GOBI racks...., they have both with lights. They are expensive though.

 

Not trying to change the topic, but I saw this and had to chime in. I had an '87 325 sedan that i stroked to 2.9l and slammed to the road gotta love them e30's. My brother and I also share an '88 325is track car also.
