Default Looking at one tonight. Need Advice!!!

I am looking at a 1993 jeep Cherokee Country with 200k on it. He says it was running then one day it was not. It was never off road and very clean. He has replaced distributor, plug, wires and says it has good spark. and it has new tires. I been wanting to build one up and he wants $600 and its all stock. To me it sounds like a fuel problem but what all should I look for. Think engine is toast? I have no experience with the cherokee. I have owned old wranglers and ****** and blazers so I am a decent wrench but like I said I need any advice I can get when looking. Rick

Buy it. 600? buy it. Bought my 94 country with 232 on the clock, 242k now and running great. For that price, even if it's not running, that's a deal.

Expect anything that doesn't run to be a project car. A roll of the dice that can go either way. I see running ones from that era priced reasonably without the hassles.
Not seeing it and giving an opinion via computer. If it is clean, and this stuff is in good shape. Visual Check list. Little or minimal rust, no visible fluid leaks, no signs of major body repair, glass good, tires not worn in any funky ways, and i think the interior tells an obvios story if the car was cared for.
You can borrow a compression tester from most parts stores for a deposit. These plugs are easy to get at, pull one at a time and hope for at least 100lbs ea. cylinder.
You may be looking at a blown head gasket or something as simple as an inexpensive distibutor rotor.
I don't know anybody that when their car dies just sells it without having it looked at and getting a quote to fix.
If you like it bring cash, in the role of seller. I will take a conservative offer when I see someone is serios.
Good Luck
