You leave us woefully short of information...

Is your Jeep a daily driver? A trail-only Jeep? A mix?

What kind of Tires do you run? What kind of trails?

Where do you live? What kind of weather are you going to see?

What year XJ? What T-case is it equipped with?

From your other thread, I gather you are pretty new to the Cherokee world. Welcome, if we know what you are planning to do it helps narrow down the options.

sorry bout that. The jeep is is a 1990 and not a daily driver but will see some road time here and there i will be running either 33'' or 35'' swamper TSL's and i think the transfer case is a 231 but not sure. It will see a little bit of every thing.

Lockers are a difficult topic. I would say the answer would be the very best is selectable and the second best would be full lockers like Detroit's and third choice would be lunchbox lockers. That would be my way to look at it. We need more info to give you more info. Lift, tire size, transfer case and axles are all needed to completely answer your question more definitively.

I would just go with an auto locker since it's not your DD and you can save some cash.

If it's a DD, you are better off with selectable lockers but can get by with auto lockers.

My recommendation is lockright lockers.

you can break anything if your doing something stupid

but generally speaking a full case locker will be many times stronger than a locker that just replaces the spider gears

The fullcase ones are always stronger than the lunchbox type of locker. Again the obvious solution is the decision and usage can only be made by you.

Knowing a little more now I would say put a Detriot in the rear and put a selectable in the D30 like a Ected or an Ox. That way it is streetable when required to be and a serious trail truck when that is it's role.

I had an Ox locker for about a year. Worked great when it would actually engage. melted 2 cables and spent countless hours adjusting the damn thing. If you do opt for an Oxlocker get one of the newer ones that are not cable actuated.

FWIW, Eaton is now producing e-lockers for the D30. I've got em in my 44's and love-em!

Great info Frank. I was not sure about the Eatons but knew that Auburn had the ected ones. I have read about an electric solenoid to engage the Ox but haven't seen one or read a report on it either.
