Trac-lok is a clutch pack LSD. Its pretty much junk as Frank said. The additive helps the clutch packs get enough friction to lock up correctly. NOTE - See below. I don't know where my head was for this. Its the other way around.

The track lok is a clutch type limited slip.
You can modify the stacking order of clutches to greatly increase the efficiency of the trak loc.
If you emergency brake is adjusted properly, engaging the brake will help the track loc "lock" up.
The friction modifyer is not to help the trac lok "clutch packs get enough friction to lock up correctly", rather the opposite, it is added to help the clutches slip better to reduce chatter in the rear diff.
Advantages of a trak loc are:
-They can be rebuilt cheaply (replacing the clutch packs).
-They do not lock/unlock causing the rig to attempt changing lanes on it's own.
-They go unnoticed in daily driving with no pop-bang-snap to deal with.
-They are easy on tires.
-They are easy on axles.
For a daily driver they (or any limited slip) make a lot of sense.
They will never work like a locker which truely does lock the axles together when under power.
