Default Lift on my WJ?

Hello guys, ive been thinking of lifting my $300.00 WJ but today while installing a new washer reservoir due to the old one having a hole in it. When the new one went in before putting the wheel back on. we noticed that the reservoir would not clear the tire. This is probably why the old one had a hole in it already. I looked at the tire size and it said 245/75/16. I noticed on forums that these are not stock tire size. I was thinking about using the roughcountry 2 inch lift on it and seeing if maybe that would help out or also using the spacers. If not I will have to relocate the reservoir maybe to the trunk or the Engine bay by putting a cold air intake so it doesnt occupy too much space while using a ZJ reservoir. Let me know any advice. Thank you!

You are lucky because you're in the wrong section of the forum, BUT you've drawn the attention of a long time WJ owner.

The largest tire you can run without any interference on a WJ is a 245/70R16. 70, not 75. Even a 70 series will rub on the liner if for some reason you make a sharp turn while descending a steep hill or driveway. I know you don't have this problem in FL, but snow&ice can pack the wheelwell and destroy the liners with anything over a 235/70R16.

Also remember a lift will just make it higher and not change front-to-back clearance enough to even talk about unless you go more than 2". Then you have the double CV front driveshaft involved because it doesn't like changes in it's length. My opinion is you'd be better off changing tire size than doing all those expensive mods. I've been running 245/70R16 Cooper Discoverer AT3s on my 2000 WJ 4.0L for 7 years and both my front liners are in shreds from snowpack but my washer reservoir is still fine, although the rear washer pump doesn't work because of corrosion. The only problem with buying new tires is it's going to cost you more than $500 for anything worth buying.

I can only say that Dave knows what he's talking about, so it's wise to trust his advice.

If it were me, I'd relocate the damn reservoir. Some extra wiring and rubber hose is a heck of a lot easier than dropping hundreds on new tires.

Is there enough room to maybe put some spacers on the mounting FOR THE RESERVOIR or get creative with some brackets from your local hardware store and maybe shift it an inch or so away from the tire? That would be my first consideration.
