Default 01 Limited Driver Auto Window issue

My driver window makes an odd tapping/grunting noise when maxed out in either direction. It also doesnt let down or raise on auto either. Could these be connected? Is there an auto up/down relay?

Pretty sure there is no auto up on my '00 but there is an auto down. But there is a stop on the up.
It will just stop going up even if you are still pressing the button.
The "tapping" you mention.
When rolling it up I am wondering if you mean it wants to try and keep going up instead of stop like I
said above if you keep your finger on the button.

For the auto down issue, it sounds like you might have the typical cracked solder joint problem on the circuit board. Its a simple fix if you know how to solder. Its more work to take apart the switch then anything else.

Like Ralph said, there is no auto up.

10-4, can I just replace the switch and call it good?

I am kind of thinking you might be dealing with 2 separate issues.
The auto down not working cause of the master control.
The window wanting to try and keep moving when all the way up or down when you still have your finger on the button
cause of the window regulator.

Mine, only on the up, would not stop trying to go up if I kept my finger on the button.
I just replaced the regulator with a new one instead of trying to repair it like in the link above.
If I am right about the master control then you might want to resolder the circuit boards like guys do.

Please realize I am just guessing here.

I replaced my switch cause the window lock button was keeping people from letting them roll down the windows at their respective doors.
But I could roll them all down from the driver's door.
I was positive that it was the master control and just replaced it.
Your auto down not working is a new one to me.
Instead of just throwing parts at the Jeep thinking try that first. Much cheaper.

You know, it's almost like it doesnt know to stop when it is at either extreme with my finger in the switch. Havent tested the theory with the window lock, but my son was mad that his wouldnt roll down the other night, and it was unlocked. Could be separate issues. I'll pull the switch board tonight and prod around on it

If your other windows arent rolling down from their own switch, its definitely the solder joints on the circuit board. You can either fix it for free or buy a new switch.

A quick little odd test for you. On the drivers switch, push the lock button a little like you are trying to lock the doors but dont push it far enough to actually lock the door. Once you do that, hold it there and have someone try to roll down any other window from there own switch. If they roll down, its definitely the drivers switch causing the issues.

None of the other window switches work, and when I toggle the auto switch, the backlights flicker in the master control. Willing to bet the PO left the window down and it got rained on. Going to just replace that master control and hopefully be done with ut.
