I been thinking of putting a lift kit on my 01 cherokee. I only want to do like a 3in. I was seeing if any one knows a good brand at a decent price, also what all do I need to do a 3in lift. thanks
For affordability, it's hard to beat RoughCountry. I've instauled several of their liftkits. Butch simple. --They don't give you a bunch of extra crap you don't need, either. In my opinion, you don't need many extras for a 3" ...you can get away with stock steering and no t-case drop (IMO!!).
I'll look for a picture of the RC 3" I have on an XJ running 31s..

Look at Quadratec, Rough Country, Rubicon Express, Old Man Emu and Rustys for your lift.
No kit will be complete, But do contain what you NEED for the lift. Here's what I would do for 3". New Springs Front and Rear, Shocks, Adjustable Trackbar, adjustable control arms, SYE and Driveshaft, YJ rear brake line, 31" tires (if you want bigger you need gears and body trimming), shackle relocation brackets.

This is the kit I used. I also bought a t-case drop from them as well, but didn't use it.. still have it in its packaging. I then bought a TC Stabilizer for like $30 on Ebay.

Rusty's 3" Spring pack Kit, $438 +Shipping.
They sell a TC drop kit for $20 as well, good stuff, solid setup. You won't need a SYE or Driveshaft with this setup either. Hell people have the 4.5" kit and have no vibration issues with just the TC drop kit.
It's what I'm currently saving for, if I could stop buying other things

I would say go with Rusty's 4.5" honestly... it comes with a good majority of what you need... I just got a kick a$$ deal on that kit and can't wait to install it... The main reason I like this kit is because I have ridden in two Cherokee's with the 4.5" kit and a few with the larger 6.5" kit... and was more than pleased with the ride on the street as well as the performance off road... Just my $.02!!
The only things I'd say to add when putting on a 3" lift is a TC drop (remove any vibrations), '95 YJ front brake hoses, the rear brake line from a '96 Dakota, and some quick disconnects for your front sway bar (search $7 Disconnects in Fabrication for this). Do that and you'll be good. Better would be going for beefier upper arms, lower arms, and trac-bar. Best would be adjustable on all the better stuff. I'm running Rusty's 3" spring pack (AAL's tend to sag pretty quick) with the "better" set up I described above. I can pretty much go anywhere off-road and the ride isn't too harsh on the road. I'd definitely suggest getting it.
