i would go with something like a 15 inch sub bandpass box mono 1 channel amp 200w or 2 channel bridged mono then add some boston 6-1/2's in all the doors with a 4ch amp 400 watt you should be good u can still run off your stock alternator and should pull no more then 30amps. unless you plan on replaceing the battery to gel and get a cap new alternator then you can go bigger. keep in mind you want to keep your subs and your door speakers failry close in watts if you can. To me i dont see the point in putting in a 1000 watt subs if your door speakers are only getting 25watts a piece your drowning out the sound highs and mids and besides with the xj body style and design tends to keep most of the sound in so if trying to impress people on the street it can be done but most of the sound wants to stay in the car. I get a clean hit with comp bandpass and clean amp deep rich clean bass nothing rattles excesssivly and at 200w you would think ur hearing 400w or something higher. ive also heard people say a 6x9 speaker is the best door size ever made sounds the best. That might be true but as we know our jeeps wont take a 6x9 speaker you could however put 2 6x9's in the rear inside of 6x9 boxes if you really wanted to. if your looking to impress someone outside your rig your more likely with the xj to get people to hear the vocals highs and mids so thats something 2 think about . And if you can or have the room dont jump one amp off another with a block or cap just buy another amp kit will be more efficent .Just something to think about man

if ur wanting something to rock the block......fill out all your door speakers with memphis or infinity speakers (components are best) and then some 15" Kicker L7's in a probox with a Kicker warhorse amp

i agree with xj_maniac i have infinity kappas and they have great power and sound very clean. boston or kicker or jbl component speakers as well as infinity and polk audio components are very clean and powerful. Dont make the mistake and buy pyriamid or sony explodes door speakers cuz there crap all distorted sound. sometimes if your lucky and get a clean amp hooked up to one of those kinds and use rms power you might get lucky and get by.

Kenwood head w/MP3 plug and USB port for flash drive... 5 1/4 Alpines in the doors, 6 1/2 Alpines in hatch, 2 10" JBLs in sealed enclosure, 400w Alpine 2ch amp driving subs... works for me!

I have a 12" sony xplod, sealed box, w/ walmart 300w amp. best setup for cheap and if I bust it, o well it's cheap stuff. $60 sub(6 years ago), $50 amp(4 years ago!) and a $40 box(4 years ago)
The only thing I've had to do to this system is reassemble the box with more screws. Recaulk the inside of the box, and remove plastic shield on amp to eliminate rattle.
My second system is 2 12" Sony Xplod's, Ported box, 1500w Rockford Fosgate amp pushing 4gauge wire. All of these were bought on discounts for one reason or another, so I only spent $410 total and have been pushing this system for 3 years.
