Default led reverse bulbs

Has anyone installed any led bulbs in their reverse lights? Are they worth the money? Do they Give off more light then factory bulbs? Just looking for a little extra light when backing up. I could also put to small driving lights on the back and wire then seperate to a toggle switch but figured leds may be the way to go. Thanks for the oppions!

Have to ask what year since you didn't mention it in the post and it's not in your profile.

Up through at least 1990, a number 795 bulb works great in your reverse lights. It has the base of the original 1034 bulb but a halogen globe. Probably twice as bright as stock.

That's another version of 1034. The 795s will work for you. Don't touch the glass on the bulbs. Handle them with a tissue.

I have the black clip-in style connector. What's the best light bulb for me?

You can get white 1156 led on Ebay pretty cheap. The, I , think 9 led ones I got years ago are not supper bright. I just looked, some of these might work well even if the voltage to them was not supper, > http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from...+led+&_sacat=0

Here are my backup/work lights mounted on my roof rack. I used the backup light wiring and a relay to them for activation and then a switch for manual use.

I tried all the bulbs suggested in this thread and finally found a set that works head and shoulders above the rest of these. Bought some Grandview Cree 80 Watt LED 1920 lumens Backup Bulbs and tested them last night. What a difference.!!! By far better than anything I tried suggested here. My XJ is a 96 Country so it was the 1156 socket. Fit like a glove.
I also have some cube LED lights mounted underneath my Nate’s bumper I’m going to wire in for some “overkill”.

Be careful if these are running off of the original loom. My bulbs are 21w each so approx 4A for the pair. 80w bulbs will draw approx 13A combined. They should run through a relay.

After searching for them I can't see then using that much power but maybe it refers to an equivalent usage.
